About Brian

Hello, my name is Brian Vasey. I’m 63 years old, happily married to a wonderful woman who has supported me throughout my career, and we share our home with two cats who couldn’t be more different from each other.

I’ve spent the past 29 years in the trucking industry and, during that time, have had the opportunity to experience many different sides of the business. I’ve worked as a company driver, driver trainer, owner-operator, and owner of a small two-truck operation. I also had the privilege of serving as the CDL Program Director at Lake-Sumter State College.

While I certainly haven’t seen everything the trucking industry has to offer, I’ve experienced enough of it to have a pretty good understanding of how this industry works—from behind the wheel to the training room and from the business-owner’s perspective.

I’m currently driving for a company in Haines City, Florida, where I plan to finish out my driving career. In about three years, I’ll be retiring from trucking.

Until then, I’ll be sharing some of my thoughts and experiences along the way.

From time to time, I’ll be posting about the trucking industry—things that make sense, things that don’t, and some of the decisions trucking companies make that leave you wondering, “What were they thinking?” I’m not one to hold back when I believe something is wrong. If I make a claim or criticize a practice, I’ll do my best to back it up with facts and information.

I’ll also be talking about local happenings and events, including news and police-related stories that I believe are worth discussing.

My goal is to share what I’ve learned over nearly three decades in this industry, give my honest perspective, and hopefully start some meaningful conversations along the way.

I hope you’ll enjoy the posts, take the time to read them, and most importantly, join the conversation. Agree with me, disagree with me, challenge my opinions, or add your own perspective—that’s what makes a community interesting.
